Flat panel halogen heater
The halogen heater has a top mounted control panel. Settings include; Swing high (Oscillation 70 degrees; turns left and right with high heat), Swing low (Turns while on a low setting), off, low, and high. There is a power indicator light, which when in use, turns on. There are no digital displays. The glow of the light is seemingly subtle during the day (Not at all as bright as the image displayed, which is good), however I found it to be brighter than I would have liked when in use during the night. As an example; at night, you could read a book and not need any other lighting while the heater is on.Once the heater has been taken out of its box, the base of the product does require assembly. The assembly is basic. Two wing nuts will be used to tighten the base to the heater. No tools are necessary.Seconds after turning it on, the high setting: 800 watts can be felt (If it is positioned near and facing your direction). The same applies to when in use on a low setting, though the heat is not as strong. It operates quietly, and the structure/ surface remains cool while heating, however if it is in use for several hours, the structure will get warm, but it remains manageable to touch. I often use the indent in the back (the handle)to carry this product from one place to another. As a result of residual lubrication, there may be a brief initial odor (Only once, after you’ve received it, then plugged it in for a try). This is normal for new heaters. Within a minute, give or take, it is no longer an issue. It is a well-proportioned product; 12 x 6.3 x 23 inches.I don’t believe this product is intended to heat a room, though I have noticed it does help maintain the room’s temperature a bit, but then again, I have one of those open floor plans downstairs. I have yet to try it in an inclosed environment (like a small bedroom or bathroom). I will update this post when I do give it a go.It is very much like a personal heater. I often place it in front of the couch (roughly about two feet away, and can feel the heat very well. I have left it on for several hours at a time, and have had no problems with it.The overall quality is as I had hoped.Lee-

Does the job for an 800 watt oscillating heater.
Rather large for an 800 watt unit, but has worked well so far. Has a convenient carry handle and top controls. You can use it with or without oscillation. The back of the unit is not hot at all. On the High setting, it puts out quite a bright visible light, so you might not want it in a bedroom except on the Low setting. Checked it with a Kill-a-Watt meter: the actual output read 775 watts on the High setting and 455 watts on the Low setting. This is fine for my purposes. Made in China, so I wonder how long it will last.

13 years of use and still works. Am buying another today.
Wonderful heater that I’ve used for the last 13 years. Still works like new. Heats you instantly and not the air around but eventually the room warms up to a comfortable level. Oscillates quietly about 30 degrees so it can heat my doggy sitting besides me and myself really well.

Wonderful heater! Great product, great value.
First, a word from my cat, Dora . . .”I absolutely LOVE this heater! There is simply nothing better than stretching out in front of MY heater. It is bright, warm and oh so cozy! Purrrfect.”I wanted to use this heater for at least 6 weeks before writing an in-depth review.Yes, as many folks have mentioned, it is certainly bright and not conducive to sleep and I know I would have a difficult time getting to sleep with those bright halogen bulbs. Beyond that, it’s perfect.Fall and winter nights here in Colorado get pretty chilly. In an effort to keep our energy costs down, I wanted to get a heater that would enable us to keep the furnace off as much as possible, while still enjoying a warm space. We generally use the heater in our living room. It’s perfect for warming the immediate area (unless you are more than 10 feet away – the chill creeps back in).I love the fact, too, that with the 800W and 400W settings, we are using half the electricity we did with ceramic heater, even with the higher setting. Safety features that make it automatically turn off when tipped or on its side is another plus. The lightness of the heater was most surprising; it just doesn’t “feel” substantial by weight – but I assure you it is pretty sturdy, VERY quiet and great for those cold nights and chilly snow days.

Very Disappointed
I have purchased Comfort Zone products in the past and have always been pleased with the product. NOT THIS TIME. Never oscillated and only 1/2 the heating elements worked. Doesn’t stand up to the Comfort Zone name.

Comfort zone heater
It throws really good heat but I feel it is a cheaply made heater. Mostly plastic and gets pretty warm to the touch.

Writing this review after one week of use.Quit heater. Provides perfect heating without any loud fan noise. cable is also long enough and good quality. Both heat mode(low & high) also have oscillation mode which is good for circulation of heat in all directions. Best part is the heat feels more natural than those forced dry air heaters.

The heater is rated at 1500 watts but is actually 800 which is OK as it works as expected, but a running heater gives off a slight but bothersome chemical odor to someone like me who has asthma. I have never smelt this from other halogen heaters I have owned. I think the smell is coming off the plastic casing. I hope in time the smell lessens as I otherwise like the product.

zWe bought this as personal space heater but we found out it gives far more heat than we thought it would, so we keep it a bit far and let it oscillate. In addition, we use only one tube while leaving the central heater on lower. Since it spends little electricity it has lightened our bills. We have it since 2 years and it still functions as new.z

No longer functional after using it for a few hours a day over the span of 2 months.
