Looks great and easy to install
have been using the the Gasland Chef IH77BFH, Induction Cooktop for about two months and both my wife and I love it. The fan is a little noisy and and the clicking of the induction coils can be annoying, especially when the kitchen is quite. However, with a little background noise, you can hardly notice. It was a breeze to install, took me 20 mins to connect the cable and the spring clips that hold it in place. fitted perfectly in the hole from our previous ceramic radiant cooktop, looks great and heats up pots and pans much quicker.A couple of useful tips:* Be careful when cleaning with a damp cloth as the controls go haywire, but OK once they dry off.* Easy to lock, my wife thought the unit was defective. Just hold down the + & – at the same time for about 5 seconds and good to go.Main advantages over radiant cooktops:* Heats up as quickly as gas and even quicker with the boost function.* The induction top does not heat up (except heat from pot/pan), hence much easier to clean. Spills do not bake onto surface and you do not need the cooktop to cool down before cleaning.* The IH77BFH can join the coils on the left and/or right of the cooktop (very useful for long skillets) or can used individually, 5 positions.* Some nice safety features, such as coil turning off as soon as you move the pot/pan and metal surface is no longer detected. Can also be locked to stop kids from using it unsupervised.Disadvantages:* Noisier than a radiant cooktop* Single control for all rings takes a little getting used to.All in all, a great cooktop and good value for money.

Surprisingly great first induction surface
I replaced a gas cooktop with this, after reading numerous reviews about the efficiency gains of induction over gas. So glad I did. I can heat water to boiling in seconds with this, where it would take a couple of minutes with gas and a whole lot of spent heat. It’s taken a little while to figure out what settings work best for various uses, but I’m figuring it out.Two things keeping me from giving that fifth star. I don’t know if it’s all induction cooktops or only this one, but this heats by turning the power on and off like a typical electric cooktop. If you’re looking for something that keeps a consistent power on all the time, this isn’t it (except at the highest setting and that gets VERY hot VERY quickly). The second thing is that when using a griddle over the left or right paired cooktops, it whistles. Sounds kind of like a slide whistle if played by a space alien in a videogame. Now some might say it’s because I’m using low quality cookware, but I don’t think that’s the deal as I’m using very high quality cookware from HexClad that, to be honest, has been a game changer for all my cooking.

works amazing, looks even better.
was a wee bit nervous. only one actual review on this model. and it trashed it. said they could not get wiring to work. well… we have wired our entire house with perfect inspections to all of it. and this was a walk in the park. you have to have knowledge on what you are doing. and be prepared to work with 220/240. AND have a dedicated circuit for it. it does make a fan noise when it is on. all expected. it works. pure and simple. it cooks fast. it cooks cleanly. and clean up is a breeze. i just taught a 7 and 9 year old how to use it. and they got it. and did great. only think i noticed? i expected a square grid for heating surface. when i put the long griddle on and use the bbq function, i get heat all through the long griddle. but with 2 distinct circles. i am truly in love.

UPDATED – this completes the kitchen upgrade. Controls WTH? a spill turns off surface. DO NOT BUY
UPDATE: Hereâs a fun one – ever slop water while boiling noodles? THE FREAKING cook surface shut off cuz i slopped some water on the on/off button while stirring my noodles â everything stops and I have to fight to get it turned back on. HEY GASLAND ever hear of capacitive touch? OH AN DO YOU LIKE SCRACHES? cook surface gets them just looking at it.Pancakes: stupid easy right? 2 times now, either burnt or goo in middle, I am a seasoned home cook and never had an issue cooking pancakes before, itâs the way this surface heats â srsly its like in waves (see video) or something shouldnât it be consistent? This surface has bad electronics control and the way it heats, its almost impossible use.OLD REVIEW: Install was a snap, already had the hole – side note – retaining strip screws on the side stick out wider and have to be accommodated. So far love the look and the cook surface – heats quickly and I look forward to making many meals for my family with the unit. First impression – THIS THING LOVES fingerprints. my OCD is going to kill me and the control panel seems a little slow to respond, its a little noisy (like Syfi death ray sound – come on its induction already, I like it but the wife not so much) however, it boiled water in record time. Will update review in a few months. I agree with JonnyP controls SUCK, set anything on them it starts beeping – a spill on controls while cooking turned my burner off – and lock should lock not beep at you every time you brush against any control panel. Further pressing – or + once sets 1 or 9 it should be incremental not maxmin. I thought it was a learning curve but these controls…
